Glaucoma Surgery

Depending on the type of glaucoma you have Mr Porteous will discuss the different topical, laser or surgical treatment options available.

The only treatment option for open angle glaucoma is to lower the intraocular pressure. This can initially be achieved through topical eye drops or selective laser trabeculoplasty. If the disease continues to progress traditional filtration surgery may be required. Minimally invasive glaucoma surgery (MIGS) techniques are a range of procedures usually performed at the time of cataract surgery to lower the intraocular pressure.
